It's the third of January 2024, that's two years I've been NewGrounds. Well, sorta.
My last post of 2022 was in July, and my first post of 2023 was also in July
ooops
I don't even remember why I left for a year and then came back what I do know is there's quite a few things I like I haven't posted because like they don't really fit in my gallery anymore idk lol
This post is now a year in review but for the last two years, ok? Ok
The start of 2022 was incredibly rough for me.
I was finishing my last year of school which I was desperately flunking, so it was all studying and studying and studying. Sitting in the computer reading and memorizing all of the history of Spain and doing and revising dozens of equations.
Only every drawing sad doodles in notebook margins.
Occasionally I'll still have nightmares where I have to study for an upcoming math exam or a nightmare where I'm sleeping in bed and don't want to wake up because I have an exam.
Lucky it's always a relief when I wake up!
In the end I did manage to pass all my classes, and I even managed to pass the EvAU exam (in Spain it's the exam you have to take to choose an university) with a fucking 5/10, and only because my English is practically native level and scored a perfect grade in that exam, I flunked the rest lol.
Not that I needed to or cared since I already had made up my mind about attending an art school.
During summer 2022 I made some of the art I'm the most proud of, but mostly tried to take it off because I remember that after studying so much I just could not relax, something that at the time I feared would remain forever but has since thankful subsided
During the 2022-2023 school year I joined an art school, like I said, and it's been a mixed bag.
On the one hand I've noticed my art maturing, both in themes and in style, which I'm super happy about.
On the other side of things I've been having trouble connecting with people. My classmates are all lovely and we all get along, don't get me wrong, but they are very different people from me and I feel like I don't belong. They are extroverted, like going out at night and gossiping, which is just not me.
Regardless, hope is the last thing you loose and I'm trying to see how I can get them to invite me to something. I should also call some of my old friends which I've unfortunately neglected to keep in contact with.
Summer 2023 I had the opposite problem as sumer 2022 where I felt lazy and guilty for not arting as much as I wanted to.
If you've read this far please comment the word "cardboard" and consider the following a little secret between us:
I've seriously considered pursuing erotic artwork or nsfw or whatever you want to call it, and not for the money, simply because I want to.
Looking at some of my most recent art in my gallery this might not come as a huge surprise, but I've yet to actually commit and draw some bits.
I had plans of drawing an erotic parody comic during the summer, but I just did not. If I really want to do this I gotta commit, and everytime I don't do anything of the sort in fear it will look bad or I won't like it or people won't like it or if people will judge me or whatever.
The comic is, at least, completely planned out and since then I came up with other concepts for such comics but that's all they are for the time being.
Please remember to comment the word "cardboard" lol
The back half of 2023 was a slow period for my art, in May I bought Procreate and said goodbye to my laggy old iPad program Adobe Fresco, which admittedly had some pretty cool features specifically for colouring, and I had to readjust. I had a pretty big art block since and I must've not coloured anything much for around 6 months.
Lucky these last few months have been really goodand have turned things around!
I've been drawing much more and even got some cool gadgets like an artist glove to help out, I've found new ways of colouring my digital art, even got lots of new awesome brushes tossed my way and made my first NewGrounds friends.
I'm hopeful for 2024.
